Traveller in the Headlines

Lee on Traveller

Lee on Traveller

In case you missed it, Traveller was big in the news over the weekend, and it was travel news at that. Stories in the travel sections of both the New York Times and the Washington Post referred to General Robert E. Lee’s horse and to the University. In the case of the Times, Jane Margolies wrote an interesting piece about the virtues of college campuses as inexpensive travel destinations. Margolies’ story focused on Yale but she mentioned another half-dozen institutions, including Washington and Lee, where visitors can find the unexpected — like the burial sites of Lee and Traveller. Meanwhile, over at the Washington Post, writer John Thompson took a trip to Lexington and wrote about what he found, including a lack of traffic, which some long-time residents might dispute.
