Have a Look at onPoverty.Org

onpovertyIf you have never seen it, you should have a look at the Web site called onPoverty.org, a blog produced by Washington and Lee’s American Poverty Journalism Center. Produced by W&L students, many of whom are journalism majors, the site is a resource for professional journalists who cover issues related to poverty, class, and economic justice. Writing in the About Us section, Ed Wasserman, the Knight Professor of Journalism Ethics at W&L, explains that the project started in a class on The Journalism of Poverty and continues to serve as a clearinghouse for “poverty-related coverage initiatives.” Recent posts cite a grim unemployment forecast and longer lines. Given the state of the economy, the resources available at the onPoverty.org site should be ever more valuable to journalists as they write about these issues.
