Team Traveller

Team Traveller, which proclaims itself the only cycling club in the Rockbridge County area, got some publicity in cycling circles when it was profiled in the January 2009 issue of The Racing Post, which covers cycling sports in the south central U.S. Established in 2007 by current junior Elliott O’Brien and alumnus David Cobb (Class of 1987), the club includes W&L students, alumni, faculty, and administrators (and, as the Web site says, some spouses of all of the above). The profile in The Racing Post characterizes the club this way: “The beauty of being a small-town collegeaffiliated team nestled between the Blue Ridge and Alleghany Mountains is that we are afforded with miles of beautiful scenery with very little traffic and the time to enjoy it.” If you’re inclined to saddle up and join them, the Team Traveller Web site now has a calendar that lists all of the training activities. And not that Team Traveller didn’t deserve the recognition in The Racing Post, but they did have a little inside help. The magazine’s editor, Andy Hollinger, is a W&L alum from the Class of 1973.

Thanks for writing about us. Love the article. I always try to keep up with alumni news. Now I’m in it. Thanks for including a link to the calendar. We’ll be adding more rides as the weather warms.
