Memo Received?

Russ Miller

Russ Miller

Just before Christmas, Russ Miller of the School of Law wrote an opinion piece in which he urged President-elect Obama to keep his campaign promise to “operate within constitutional and statutory restraints.” Miller’s piece, titled “Remember Promises of Humility,” was published first in the Richmond Times Dispatch and later in other Media General newspapers, including the Tampa Tribune. Among the challenges he issued the incoming president was this one: “[Obama] should refuse to sign any future legislation that seeks to respond to the economic crisis but fails to ensure the executive branch’s political accountability through congressional oversight.” So Miller was understandably pleased to read an Associated Press story out of Washington on Tuesday headlined “Obama to include accountability in economic plan.”

If you didn’t see Miller’s piece, here’s a link to the Times Dispatch.
