The eighth annual Institute for Honor later this month will examine the role of honor in amateur and professional sports and will feature a lineup of high profile speakers. Titled “Sports in America: Playing Fair,” the institute’s roster of speakers was originally scheduled to include Myles Brand, president of the NCAA. But Brand has had to cancel and will be replaced by his senior advisor, Wallace Renfro. Other speakers are author and CNN senior analyst Jeffrey Toobin, and former Washington Redskins and Houston Texans general manager and CBS analyst Charley Casserly. In addition, other speakers will be Tom Murray, CEO of the Hastings Center; Travis Tygert of the United States Anti-Doping Agency; Jeremiah Bishop, champion cyclist; and W&L president Ken Ruscio. Here’s a link to a pdf of the schedule. The annual institute, which has a maximum enrollment of 175 alumni, students, and faculty, will be held Jan. 23-24.
