W&L Alumnus Frank Billingsley Draws Raves for Hurricane Coverage

Frank Billingsley, a 1982 W&L alumnus, has received plenty of plaudits from Houston area residents for his work as a meteorologist with Houston’s KPRC-TV after Hurricane Ike hit the area last month. Another W&L alum, Harold Mathis, took it upon himself to call his alma mater to sing Frank’s praises. One of the services that Frank performed was helping Galveston Island residents who were unable to get back into their neighborhoods take a look at their homes from the station’s helicopter.

You can look at all of Frank’s report from Hurricane Ike on the KPRC Web site.

Since joining KPRC in 1995, The Associated Press has awarded Frank Best Weathercast in Texas seven times. The Houston Press Club voted him Best Weathercaster four times; The Houston Press newspaper has three times voted him Best Weathercaster, the Houston Chronicle named Frank the “Ultimate Weatherman.” Frank has won the prestigious Dallas Press Club’s Katy Award three times.
