The Spring Term magazine writing class taught by Doug Cumming has published a final product in the last few days. It’s titled “take two,” and I recommend it heartily if you can find a copy around campus. There is a good variety of articles, and the layout (art directed by junior Tim Kirby) is lively. The profiles of local Rockbridge County folks are engaging — one is on James Berger, a Vietnam P.O.W. who owns Lexington Building Supply and Mill, and another is about Randall Ray, a W&L grad who builds acoustic guitars.
There are also some first-rate profiles of students who are engaged in service of various kinds and a story about the history of railroad service.
In his editor’s note, Cumming writes that the magazine’s title shouldn’t be taken literally because the print run of 1,000 won’t last long if people actually do take two.
